REGISTRATION
Those planning to attend CFHT's 21st Anniversary meeting must
register. The registration fee is $125; this fee includes the meeting
dinner. On a limited basis, the fee for additional dinner requests is
$40. The Anniversary dinner is scheduled for Friday, 1 December, at
the hotel. A summit visit is also scheduled for Sunday, 3 December.
The fee for this activity, which includes transportation and lunch at
the mid-level faiclity, is $35.

communication should include the following information:
Full name, Prefix, Badge Name, Institution, Address, Phone, Fax,
E-mail, Dinner attendance, Observatory Tour, payment method (mail /
on-site). Poster presentation: Title.
On site registration will be accepted if space is available, but is
otherwise discouraged.
The method of payment accepted is by check in U.S/Canadian/French
funds or in cash (U.S. funds only) at the registration desk on site.

Acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to registering participants.
NOTE: The Registration Desk at the meeting site will be available on
30 November, 5:00pm - 7:00pm, as well as during the following two
days of meeting, starting one hour prior to the start of the meeting.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS / CAR RENTAL
The CFH21 anniversary meeting will be held at the Outrigger Waikoloa
Beach Resort A block of rooms has been reserved for the meeting
participants. The rate for single or double occupancy is $135 +
11.416% State and Room tax. There is no charge for children under 18
years of age, when sharing accommodations with adults/parents. This
rate is applicable from 28 November through 8 December and may be
extended, on an availability basis, 3 days before and after the dates
mentioned. The Outrigger also offers a room/car rental package with
car rental agency Dollar. Car rental reservations must be made
at the time room reservation is made. The rate for an economy car is
$28/day + 4.166 Hawaii State tax, Hawaii Rental Vehicle Surcharge of
$3./day. Insurance coverage is optional
Note: There is very little public transportation on the Big Island
and none that regularly services the airport. For transportation
between the airport and hotel, you may wish to take a taxi or rent a
car. We strongly encourage participants to rent a car, if
possible.
The Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Resort is located approximately 21 miles
north from the Kona airport (highway 19 upon exiting the Kona
airport).

Please mention CFH21 Anniversary Meeting to qualify for the rate(s)
mentioned above. In order to confirm a room assignment, a one night
deposit will be required (charged to your credit card or by check);
this deposit is refundable up to 72 hours prior to arrival.
IMPORTANT: ABOVE RATE AND BLOCK OF ROOMS WILL BE HELD UNTIL 13
OCTOBER. PLEASE MAKE HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS BY THIS
DATE.
Your reservation will be acknowledged by the hotel and a confirmation
number will be provided.
AIRPORT / AIRLINES
There are two major airports on the Big Island: Hilo and Kona. You
should arrive at the Kona airport, on the Kohala coast, and closest to
the site where the meeting will take place.
The airlines with nonstop flights from the mainland U.S. to Kona are:
United Airlines, TWA and Hawaiian Airlines.
VISIT TO THE CANADA-FRANCE-HAWAII TELESCOPE ON MAUNA KEA
A visit to the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope will take place on
Sunday, 3 December. The journey to the summit of Mauna Kea, located
at 4200m. (14,000ft) above seal level, is approximately two and
one-half hours, with a stop at Hale Pohaku, the lodging center for the
observatories on Mauna Kea. The visit will take most of the day,
departing from the hotel at 8:00am, and returning in the late
afternoon. Lunch will be served at the Hale Pohaku cafeteria.
CAUTION: Warm clothing is essential as the weather conditions
on Mauna Kea are quite different from those present at sea level.
Because of the high altitude, people with respiratory, heart, or
severe overweight conditions, and pregnant women, are advised not to
go higher than Hale Pohaku, located at the 9,300 feet above sea level.

Onizuka
Center for International Astronomy - Visitor Center. Due to
the practical arrangements necessary for this visit, space is very
limited. Deadline for registering for the visit is 13 October.
CALL FOR POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Posters may be submitted on any topic relevant to the past, present or
future use of the CFHT. The following areas are of particular
interest:
- Astro-Sociology (habits and publications of CFHT users)
- Recent scientific results
- Current observational programs of notable interest
- MegaCam Surveys
- Application of Wide-field IR Imaging
- Instrumentation concepts
- Future concepts for CFHT
Poster Presentations Instructions
Poster papers will be displayed on panels (freestanding bulletin
boards). The available area will be approximately 4 feet wide and 4
feet high. Velcro strips for attaching posters will be supplied.
