Why an owl ?

"PUEO" is the name of an Hawaii owl. Like our Adaptive Optics system, it is a night bird and has a sharp vision... It is also an acronym and stands (rather pompous I grant you, but you know how it is with acronym) for Probing the Universe with Enhanced Optics.
