User's Manual for MOS/ARGUS: An IFS configuration in MOS
Christian Vanderriest & Christian Veillet
Version 1.1
August 13, 1997
Abstract
This manual describes the present status of MOS/ARGUS, the observing procedures for using it efficiently, and an overview of the procedures to be used forARGUS data reduction.
MOS/ARGUS shares with "MOS@"the same interface with the telescope after the cassegrain bonnette, as well as most of the optical components and the operational procedures. Reading the MOS manual is then highly recommended ! Using MOS in ARGUS mode makes a bundle of fibers come at the focal plane of the telescope (MOS/OSIS mirror off), and redirect the light in a row of fibers at the same location as a MOS mask.
The CFHT detector used with MOS/OSIS is mainly "STIS2@" .
Aside from reading this manual and the MOS manual, we strongly suggest that observers also be familiar with the " Pegasus User's Manual@" Another document of potential interest is the on-line "CFHT Filter List@" Questions any of these manuals do not answer should be directed to the CFHT Directors at directors@cfht.hawaii.edu.
