CFHT OBSERVING REPORT
RunID: 03AH36A
Name: Brian Stalder
Email Address: stalder@ifa.hawaii.edu
Support Astronomer: Forveille
Observing Assistant #1: Wells
Observing Assistant #2: Select
Instrument: AOB
Detector: KIR
Number of nights: 3
# of hours lost to weather: 0
# of hours lost to CFHT: 1
# of hours lost to setup: 1
# of hours lost to other reasons: 0
Results obtained: 13 radio source fields in H band (~90min integration time for each)
with ~2-3 standards per night plus dome flats.
Scientific Success: excellent
Recommendations: Dewar fill for kir takes ~45 minutes
which usually delays opening dome in evening.
Day crew left AOB on 3/14 in bad state which took
Hard to cancel a generic_script cleanly
(had to abort an exposure) then did not recenter.
Should put the position of field relative to guide
star in header (so the guide star can be off
field and not saturating the detector).
AOB problem, dewar fill) for a 45 x 120s single
exposure with 9-15 point dither pattern, a ~5s psf
sampling every 40 minutes and 120s dark frame on
every object. Readout and dither offset could be
made simultaneous? Filter change does take a
while also (and other tasks can not be run at that
time).
