2.4 Where's what ? A guided
tour of the directory tree of the archive machine alohi
2.4.1 Filesystems
The archive system currently relies on two hard disks:
- /archive (/dev/sd4g) contains the working directories
of the daemons that is is used as a buffer for the data to be archived.
Its big capacity of 1.6 Gb allows for a temporary pipeline disruption (such
as when the media are full) without a risk of overflow. See 2.1
for the name of the current daemon working directories.
- /archive/sw (/dev/sd4h)contains all the source code of
the archive programs, the listfiles and the logfiles.
We now describes more thoroughtly /archive/sw:
- /archive/sw/daemon contains the source codes of the archive
daemons. Files in this directory are under RCS.
- /archive/sw/aiqe contains all the AIQE stuff that has just been
copied from the old archiving system (see on-line documentation and [1]
for a description).
- /archive/sw/handler contains the source codes of the media handlers
and the media initializers.
- /archive/sw/par contains the parfiles for the daemons. Files
in this directory are under RCS.
- /archive/sw/log contains the current logfiles of the daemons.
/archive/sw/log/old contains the old logfiles.
- /archive/sw/list contains the listfiles of the daemons. /archive/sw/list/old
contains the old listfiles. /archive/sw/list/old/maxtor_od contains
the very old listfiles, back to the time of the maxtor optical disks.
- /archive/sw/adm contains the administation tools described in
the next chapter.Files in this directory are under RCS.
- /archive/sw/etc contains routines used by several daemons, generally
imported from the Pegasus project.
- /archive/sw/docs contains all the documentation related to the
CFHT archiving system including [1]
and this document.
2.4.2 Archive Devices
Data are physically archived on devices attached to alohi. The
following devices are currently available:
- /dev/rmt0: High density Exabyte drive
- /dev/rmt1: High density Exabyte drive
