4.4 Miscellaneous Process daemons

There are currently two miscellaneous processes:

stripheadd extracts the FITS cards OBSERVER, OBJECT and HSTTIME from the header and appends these information to the listfile /archive/sw/list/head_list. It further extracts the full FITS header and copies it to the public directory uwila:/opt/uwila/fits_hdrs to be processed by CADC.

aiqed calls /archive/sw/aiqe/saiqe, the entry point routine to perform the Automatic Image Quality Evaluation if the image is suitable for such a treatement. Currently suitable images must be unbinned objects taken with suitable instruments. Suitable instruments are currently:

If a file is processed, the results are stored in the corresponding intrument logfile in
/archive/sw/aiqe/results and then the file is removed from aiqed working directory. If a file is not suitable for processing, it is simply removed from aiqed working directory. The result files are copied every morning to the public directory /opt/uwila_data/aiqe on uwila (see 3.4). This directory also contains a README file explaining the content of an AIQE result file. More detailed information on how AIQE actually works can be found in [1] and in the different files in /archive/sw/aiqe.
