Almost directly north from the CFHT dome is the Hamakua coastal town of Honoka'a. Again, most of the lights in this town are of the low pressure sodium variety. A sport field often illuminated, however, features metal halide lamps which sometimes dominate the light from Honoka'a.
A bright spectrum in the center of the image (reverse dispersion from the town lights) is that of Polaris, the north star, off the top edge of the photograph. A handful of other fainter stellar spectra are also visible.
