Science at and with CFHT
CFHT's scientific staff is composed
of resident and staff astronomers, visiting astronomers, Service
Observers, and Observing Assistants. This page presents
science activities at CFHT and
scientific results from CFHT. CFHT's science
activities are overseen by different
committees.
Here is a quick access to frequently used
links:
Science activities at CFHT
- Besides time spent on their own research projects, CFHT's
astronomers organize and attend Seminars.
- CFHT astronomers are also involved in Instrumentation Projects:
- ESPaDOnS,
an Echelle SpectroPolarimetric Device for the Observation of Stars at
CFHT, installed at CFHT in August 2004
- WIRCam, the CFHT
wide-field infrared camera (20'x20', 0.3" pixels) is under construction
- `OHANA is the optical Hawaiian
Array for Nanoradian Astronomy project
- PUEO NUI, an
upgrade to the AO Bonnette
- A few astronomers have contributed articles
for the local newspaper North Hawaii News.
- CFHT's library is a great source
of information that includes
a database of
International Astronomy meetings and
a core list of Astronomy
books, both compiled by our librarian, all of CFHT's
Information Bulletins, important
information on working at high
altitude, and much more.
- The future of CFHT is discussed by the Next Generation CFHT committee.
