Supernova Explosion Rate Measurement ------------------------------------ After a short introduction on supernovae and their importance as probe of galaxy evolution, I will talk about systematic searches for these events. EROS experiment was basically dedicated to baryonic dark matter search but it did spend a fraction of its telescope time to search for these bright extragalactic objects. And it succeeded indeed! I will focus on two SN search campaigns done within EROS, which allowed to discover about fifteen type Ia supernovae. I will present the rate measurement from these data, before presenting the next generation experiments which will shed the light on the rate evolution.
