Seminar: Jean-Rene Roy from Gemini, August 8, 11am Title: Traffic at the Galactic Center and the nature of IRS-8 Summary: I will give an overview of some of the science results from the 2000 Adaptive Optics imaging of the Galactic Center with Gemini North/Hokupa'a. I will review recent results of Galactic Center research that highlight the unique power of adaptive optics to explore this region of our Galaxy. I complete my talk by presenting adaptive optics near infrared spectroscopy of the bow shock/stellar source IRS-8 and discuss its relation to the central young massive star clusters right at the Galactic Center. For dessert, I will give an update on the status of the Laser Guide Star AO system at Gemini North.
