CFHT 2007 Users' Meeting -- Marseille (France), May 9-11, 2007
Building CFHT's Future
Users' Meetings?
CFHT Users' Meetings are held every three years. They are a unique opportunity for the members of the CFHT communities to share their scientific results and discuss their ideas on the evolution of the Observatory and on the kind of instrumentation and
services they would like the CFHT Corporation to offer in the coming years.
The first announcement (see link on the left) gives an outline of the meeting and raises already a few questions that could be addressed by presentations and/or discussions at the time of the meeting.
If you have ideas on the questions already raised or new ideas to be debated within the CFHT users' community, do not hesitate to make them known! Trigger discussions as soon as possible using the Forum, so that the Users' Meeting can be as efficient as possible!
The schedule of events
The Users' Meeting will be prepared by the CFHT Scientific Advisory Council with the help of the observatory. Scientific and Local Organizing Committees have been set up (see link on the left).
In the coming months, the Forum will be a place of choice for discussions on the various items already outlined in the First Announcement of the meeting.
The program of the meeting, which will leave ample room for discussions, will be finalized a few weeks before the meeting.
SAC will meet right after the Users' Meeting and summarize the outcome of the presentations and discussions which took place at the meeting. This document will be made public so that the communities have a chance to review them. The CASCA meeting in June 2007 in Canada and the SF2A meeting in July 2007 in France will be an excellent opportunity for presentation and further discussion within the two main national communities which CFHT is serving.
SAC will wrap up all of this at its fall meeting in November 2007 and propose its recommendations to the Board of Directors for consideration at the Board December 2007 meeting.
