Covid testing at Roissy CDG before travelling back to the USA

Pharmacie-2F (Terminal 2F)

The last website update on March 14th says: Opens at 6am and provides antigen tests from 6am to 20pm for travelers to USA. No appointment. Price is about 32 euros.

Departures for the USA are usually from terminal 2E, across the street and you have to walk a bit between both but it's a reasonable distance. No issues for pedestrians with baggage, there is a safe itinerary for them.

Pharmacy at the end of Terminal 2F (See map below).

Arrival in Strasbourg

To get to Strasbourg from outside of Europe, the two most practical options are:

-- Air    Fly to Strasbourg airport which has connections to major European cities and, in particular, 3-4 flights a day to Amsterdam Schiphol with code-share with Delta and other SkyTeam companies. Strasbourg airport is a short 25 minute taxi ride (~50€) from downtown or one can take a regional train from the airport to the main station in downtown Strasbourg. These trains run every ~15 minutes and the ride to/from the airport for 2.90€. Strasbourg Airport

Fly to Paris CDG and take the high-speed train (TGV) from CDG to Strasbourg. It takes 1h45 and the train ticket can often be booked with the plane tickets. Strasbourg station has an official airport code (XWG) you may want to advise your travel agent to. Air France, in particular, has an official flight number for the seats they book on the train: AirFrance

Fly to Frankfurt. Lufthansa has then a connection to central Strasbourg by bus (about 2.5 hours).

--Train (TGV)   Other airlines tend to have similar options. If not, it is always possible to book a train ride directly through the French train company although do keep in mind that tickets are valid for a given train and will need to be exchanged prior to boarding if a late flight arrival makes you miss your train. If that's a concern, make sure to buy an exchangeable ticket: SNCF

If you are arriving from within Europe, trains can be quite competitive with flights and have the benefit of arriving directly in downtown Strasbourg.

Ground transportation

Strasbourg has a fairly extensive public transport system. In particular, multiple tram lines criss-cross the downtown area and make it easy to reach any hotel/destination. Tickets need to be bought from the machines on the platforms (2.00€ per ticket) and stamped before boarding: CTS

To reach the Observatory by tram, take tram C and get off at the stop "Observatoire" that is a 2-minute walk to the Observatory.

Rental cars may not be ideal given the difficulty to park in Strasbourg.

Venue

The entrance of the observatory is through 11 rue de l'université (and not rue de l'observatoire).
The conference will be held in the big dome ("grande coupole").

Accommodations

There is a very large choice of hotels in Strasbourg.

The highly recommended hotel is the Hotel Couvent des Franciscains.

Other solutions include:
Hotel ETC
Hotel Gutenberg
La Maison Rouge
Hotel des Arts
Okko Hotel
Hilton

Apart from the Hilton that is a little out of the way but perfectly accessible via a quick tram ride, all other hotels are downtown and within a 20-minute walk from the Observatory.
