Queued Service Observations 2011B

2011B schedule, programs, and run summaries

List of 2011B programs for: MegaCam, WIRCam, ESPaDOnS.

QrunID Instrument HST Dates Number of Nights Status Run Summary
11BQ01 MegaCam Aug 1 - 4 4 Done This is the continuation of the 11A run. Programs from 11A and 11B are executed during this run. Most of the nights were clear with good IQ. A few hours were affected by thin cirrus or IQ over 1 arcsec.
11BQ02 WIRCam Aug 5 - 15 11 Done The run was affected by high humidity and clouds, but when the sky was clear, the Image Quality was often around 0.6".
11BQ03 ESPaDOnS Aug 16 - 21 6 Done The first 4 nights were almost perfect, and the weather started to degrade on night #4. The last 2 nights were affected by clouds and high humidity. However, the run was very productive and lots of observations were carried.
Shutdown Shutdown Aug 22 - 27 9 Done This block of down time was used for re-aluminizing the primary mirror and doing some telescope maintenance. The QSO database was also offline while maintenance was performed. The shutdown ended up being shorter than 9 nights.
11BQ04 MegaCam Aug 28 - Sep 5 9 Done Only one night was completely lost to high humidity, otherwise, most nights were photometric. The telescope focus model had to be checked and re-adjusted after the modifications done during the shutdown.
11BQ05 WIRCam Sep 6 - Oct 19 44 Done During this very long run, about 1/3 of the nights were completely clear, 1/3 of the nights were mostly lost to bad weather, and the last third of the nights were a mixed bag of clouds and clear skies.
11BQ06 MegaCam Oct 20 - 30 11 Done The first half of the run had better weather conditions than the latter half, during which the skies were often overcast, or photometric but with an Image Quality above 1 arcsec. There were also technical issues with the declination axis encoder and MegaCam, and about 6 hours in total were lost.
11BQ07 ESPaDOnS Oct 31 - Nov 15 16 Done This run was severely affected by weather (high humidity and snow, clouds), and little progress was made for the programs that were attempted.
Classical AOB Nov 16 - 22 7 Done n/a
11BQ08 MegaCam Nov 23 - 30 8 Done The weather has not been much better than during the previous runs.
11BQ09 WIRCam Dec 1 - 14 15 Done More than half the time was lost to bad weather.
11BQ10 MegaCam Dec 15 - 16 2 Done One night was lost to a dome shutter drive failure. Then a glycol leak prevented observations on Dec 16/17. To give time for cleanup and investigation, WIRCam was put early on the telescope
11BQ11 WIRCam Dec 17 - Jan 2 17 Done Due to a technical issue, WIRCam was put back on the telescope. The weather improved significantly toward the end of the run.
11BQ12 ESPaDOnS Jan 3 - 16 14 Done The original 10-night run has been extended by 4 nights. The weather was excellent for the first 9 nights, then one night was lost to high humidity, and 3 other nights were affected by clouds. This run has allowed the QSO Team to catch up on most programs, even some that were initially scheduled for the November run. A and B programs are complete at 86%, which is excellent.
11BQ13 WIRCam Jan 17 - 22 6 Done Except for about one night of variable cloudiness, this last WIRCam run went very well, and the weather has allowed the QSO Team to make a lot of progress for the 11B programs that remained.
11BQ14 MegaCam Jan 23 - 29 7 Done An excellent run to end semester 11B! Except for a few hours of clouds and a night with high winds, observations went very smoothly. The conditions allowed the QSO Team to do some catching up with A and B programs.
