'Ohana: Status of the CFHT - Gemini Interferometer.
Pierre Fedou, Guy Perrin, Olivier Lai, Julien Woillez
Abstract: The 'Optical Hawaiian Array for Nano radian Astronomy ('Ohana) is a monomode fibered interferometer who aims to link at least 2 telescopes on the Mauna Kea within a large base and a high resolution interferometer. For now we are working on the connection beetween Gemini and CFHT., , I'll present here three important steps of the project., , (a) First I'll present sub-systems status of the interferometer, now in its final phase, the integration phase. Sub-systems are 1. Injection module for Gemini side, 2. Injection module for the CFHT side, 3. Fibers in 3 bands (J, H, K) beetween the two telescopes, 4. Delay line, 5. Scattering equalizer, 6. Beam combiner, 7. Fringes acquiring camera., , (b) Then I'll present the determination of the base length problem: finding the fringes being not too hard needs to know with a good accuracy (~1mm) the length of the base (~163m) between centers of the two telescopes. It's not a plain problem because the two telescopes haven't been thought as part of a whole interferometer. It's IGN (Institut Geographique National) who will do the job within the next weeks., , (c) Then I'll present the path between the telescopes where fibers will lay. Difficulties met and solutions found.
