The Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS)

Abstract: The SNLS survey uses Type Ia supernova (SNeIa) with redshifts 0.2-0.9 to probe the nature of the dark energy that dominates matter-energy in the Universe. SNLS already has the best constraints on the equation of state of dark energy, and has determined that dark energy acts like a pure Einstein cosmological constant (i.e. vacuum energy). This talk will focus on SNLS operational issues, briefly highlight some scientific successes, and conclude with a short discussion of what we can learn for future surveys.
