CLOSING PROCEDURE
- Move Telescope to the zenith.
- Close mirrors covers.
- Bring wind screen down (takes about 40sec).
- Close Dome shutter.
- Move the Dome manually in a position such as
the shutter is facing away from the wind if possible ice building up.
- Turn on DOME STRIP HEATER if icy or snowing.
- Press EMERGENCY STOP to enable breaks,...
Make sure you do not lock it.
- Turn off
- DOME HYDRAULIC PUMP
- POLAR BEARING PUMP
- TELESCOPE POWER
- Log off Viper (errors would accumulate).
In the Dome,
- fill instrument(s) dewar with nytrogen;
- if f/31, power switch off for the tip-tilt;
- turn on the fans.
- Fill out Dayly Time Log, Operational Log, Trouble Log if necessary.
- Fill
Web Log.
- Run INCL on Tycho one last time to check encoders values at zenith.
- lock Tycho screen.
- Phone nightly report to Hilo (974-4205):
- any problems you had during the time;
- any messages for the day crew;
- any messages from the astronomer;
- any weather hazard;
- any vehicle problems.
- Turn off heaters and humidifier.
- Turn off the lights and lock the doors.
