| Après maintes et maintes réflexions, nous avons finalisé le design de notre maison. Début décembre 2002, un dessinateur a commencé à préparer les plans selon nos nombreux schémas, dessins, vues 3D et instructions. Comme on savait ce qu'on voulait et qu'on avait mis beaucoup de temps pour finaliser notre design, le travail a progressé assez vite. Le dessinateur nous a donné de très bons conseils et d'excellentes suggestions. Entre autres choses, on a décidé de monter 8 pieds dans les airs pour faire un garage sous le plancher principal. On a aussi corrigé une erreur: en montant au loft avec l'escalier qu'on avait dessiné, on se cognait la tête sur le plafond (puisqu'il s'agit d'un loft avec un mur de 4 pieds seulement)! Il a donc fallu donner un angle à l'escalier, mais cet angle est répété dans le comptoir de cuisine, alors le résultat semble très naturel. Une fois les dessins effectués selon les règles de l'art, un architecte a estampillé les plans, et notre dessinateur s'est occupé d'aller voir les différents départements pour obtenir le permis final, le 24 mars 2003. | After thinking about it day and night, we managed to finalize the design for our house. At the beginning of December 2002, a designer started to work on the plans, according to our numerous drawings, printouts, 3D views and instructions. Since we knew what we wanted, work progressed rapidly. The draftsman gave really good tips and excellent suggestions. For example, we decided to go up 8 feet and put a carport under the house. We also corrected a mistake: when going up to the loft with the staircase we had designed, we ended up bumping our heads on the ceiling (since it's only a 4-foot high kneewall)! So we gave the stairs an angle, angle which is repeated with the kitchen counter so the effect looks good. Once the plans were drawn according to the requirements, an architect stamped them and the designer took care of getting all the necessary stamps so we could get the final construction permit on March 24, 2003. |
| La maison fera donc 24 pieds par 28 pieds, avec un garage (ou future chambre d'invités) en bas, une entrée/salle de lavage, une cuisine, une salle de bain, et le salon au premier, et un généreux loft qui fait presque la moitié de la maison. | The house is 24'x28', with a carport (or future guest room) downstairs, a mudroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room on the upper floor, and a big loft almost as big as half of the house. |

| La maison est orientée avec les grandes fenêtres du salon donnant sur l'océan (bien évidemment), l'entrée et la cuisine du côté du droit de passage, la salle de bain regardant la montagne et le ravin. | The house is oriented with the big living room windows facing the ocean (of course), the mudroom and kitchen on the easement side, and the bathroom looking at the mountain and the gulch. |

fenêtres! When there's an ocean view, better put lots of windows! |

Le chemin arrive de ce côté de la maison. On pourra stationner un ou
deux camions dans le garage. L'entrée se fera soit par la porte patio à
gauche, soit par la porte à droite (la "mudroom").
The driveway gets us to this side of the house. We can park one or two trucks in the carport. We can enter through the sliding glass door on the left, or through the mudroom to the right. |

Du côté du ravin, c'est moins excitant, mais c'est de ce côté que vient
la pluie. On a tout de même rajouté une fenêtre dans le garage, et ça ne
sera pas un mur solide. La salle de bain est sur le coin à gauche.
From the gulch side, there's no much going on because it's where the rain is coming from. But we added a window for the carport, it won't be a solid wall. The bathroom is at the left corner. |

La chambre à coucher aura une vue sur l'océan par les grandes fenêtre du
salon, et aussi sur la montagne à l'arrière. La salle de bain est à droite.
The bedroom will have an ocean view through the big living room windows, and a mountain view in the back. The bathroom is to the right. |
