Where do I come from ? What did I do there ?

Lunar Laser Ranging

I used to work since the first of October 1980, and up to September 12, 1996, at the Observatoire de la Cote d'Azur, an astronomical observatory located on the French Riviera in three sites : Nice, Grasse, and the "plateau de Calern" where are installed the instruments.

For my last years at OCA, I ran a Lunar Laser Ranging station . You can see its dome and telescope on the left. It is currently the most prolific station in the international network, and also the most accurate, with lunar distance measurements at a few millimeters, thanks to a very effcient team !

Time transfer

I also worked on optical time transfer on intercontinental baselines, and on satellite experiments aiming to study various aspects of gravitation using light pulses travelling in space.

Telescope monitoring

Through a contract between OCA and TELAS, a joint venture of Aerospatiale and Framatome, I wrote the monitoring software of the 1.8-m Korean Telescope . I did the same for the 1-m telescope of the Zimmerwald laser ranging station , near Bern (Switzerland), presently under completion.

For CNRS, I'm completing the monitoring software of THEMIS, the brand new french-italian solar telescope, located on the slopes of El Teide, in Tenerife (Canary Islands).
