The Galaxy Luminosity Function to z = 1: Results from DEEP Christopher Willmer Lick Observatory Local surveys of galaxies show that there is a clear bi-modal distribution of galaxy colors, while the first measurements of the galaxy luminosity function at high z showed that the amount of evolution of the galaxy luminosity-function is strongly color-dependent. In this talk I will use DEEP survey data consisting of 5000+ galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts to z = 1.4 to re-examine the evolution of the luminosity function as a function of galaxy color.
