Title: Spec-S5 and Future Spectroscopic Surveys
Presenter: David Schlegel
Abstract:
Spec-S5 is a new all-sky spectroscopic instrument optimized to efficiently conduct cosmological surveys in the 2030s. Spec-S5 will upgrade two 4-meter telescopes to 6-meter primary mirrors and 13,000 robotic fiber positioners. The current designs are baselined the Mayall and Blanco telescopes, with the suitability of CFHT and AAT also being explored. CFHT may provide critical targeting data for both DESI-2 and Spec-S5.
