Title: CADC, CANFAR and the coming Community Surveys

Presenter: JJ Kavelaars

Abstract:

At the start of the CFHT-LS process the CADC established services that enabled proprietary access to calibrated data flowing from the CFHT-LS, both CADC and TeraPix produced products were accessible. Over ensuing decades CADC has expended their capacity to deliver processed proprietary and public data as well as providing computational resources, via CANFAR, to a variety of Large Programs. Adoption of the CANFAR cloud computing platform by CFHT would provide the computing and storage needed for this project adjacent to the archive of CFHT observations. In addition, CANFAR can be used to explore data sets in an environment that also houses other relevant data collections while providing controlled access to data products produced by the survey. In this presentation I will provide a brief overview of CADC services provided to the CFHT-LS projects and LPs. I will then describe the new set of services that CADC is making available to the community via CANFAR as CANFAR itself expands to support the SKA and Rubin-LSST projects. The CADC is eager to expand and improve the existing cloud computing, storage and database services to help ensure the success of the CFHT Community Surveys.
