Title: UNIONS, the Ultraviolet Near-Infrared Optical Northern Survey

Presenter: Jean-charles Cuillandre

Abstract:

The Ultraviolet Near-Infrared Optical Northern Survey (UNIONS) is a “collaboration of collaborations” using CFHT-MegaCam, the Pan-STARRS telescopes, and Subaru HSC to obtain deep ugriz imaging over a survey region of 6250 deg² in the northern sky. UNIONS addresses fundamental questions in astronomy, from mapping dark matter and the growth of cosmic structure at all scales to tracing the assembly history of the Milky Way. A core goal of UNIONS is to supply the Euclid space mission with northern-hemisphere calibration data for point-spread functions and photometric redshifts. We present the current observing status as UNIONS moves toward completion and the science conducted by the collaboration.
