What happens behind the astronomical scenes captured by CFHT?
The CFHT 'Ohana brings to you a journey through the back-end operations to support scientific observations on a remote observing night. Please join us virtually in our Waimea Control Room in a panel conversation with members of the Operations, Astronomy, Instrumentation, and Software teams, and our Executive Director. We will delve into the different steps of preparing for a night, including but not limited to reviewing a night report, undergoing daily maintenance at the Observatory, resolving a technical issue, scheduling observations; and visit the significance of conducting science at the CFHT Observatory that stands atop Maunakea. We will also catch some end-of-the-night action in the control room -- day-time calibrations and closing of the Observatory.
Please register here by April 27, 6 pm HST to receive the Zoom connection details.
