Well Suze deemed it necessary to lodge the first official complaint/request. Something about a lack of beach pictures on a website in Hawaii and the need for a panorama picture or two, I have no idea why someone would want beach pictures when there is a mountain with observatories on the island. Anyways, this seemed like a good excuse to take a four hour lunch break and head down to the beach, also added Suze to my spam filter, that should stop the complaints. I also cropped down the pictures a bit so they are a little smaller and easier to download than some of the pictures on the other pages.

My first stop was Mahukona. It was right around high tide and there was some slightly larger than average surf for this little area of the island.

The first shot is looking across tiny Mahukona Bay at the point on the north side

Watching the waves roll in. Here are just a few simple pictures looking across the bay at the waves breaking near the point.

There was also a nice little spout of water as the waves broke over the rocks

as well as a rather large splash as the waves crashed into the tiny Mahukona Pier

Here is a few photos from a sequence I took of a wave as it rolled in and broke near the shore

After that is was time to drive down to Kalapahi. There was a lot of mist from the breaking waves in the air down at Kalapahi, I must have missed the big wave sets.

The Kalapahi housing projects

Something about a beach with palms trees on a tropical island....too bad there is only lave rock and coral, and no sand in sight

And lastly some waves breaking over the rocks.
