Waimea Solar System Walk

CFHT, W.M. Keck Observatory and University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy Hilo worked together to organize the 2021 self guided, socially distanced walk. The walk launched March 15, 2021 and continued through April 15.

Instead of our traditional booths, each objects in the solar system was represented with a sidewalk decal. Each decal contains an image of the object and a QR code. The code leads to a video created by Maunakea Observatory staff members describing the object in English and 'Ōlelo Hawai'i.

Our Solar System Walk materials are available for downloading and viewing online. You can download our Solar System Walk coloring sheets or our DIY Mini Solar System Walk. To watch the Solar System Walk videos, visit the Maunakea Observatories YouTube Channel's Solar System Walk playlist
